Jury duties & Rule change U13, U15 and U17

Jury schedule published

During the HNBT, teams in the U13, U15, and U17 categories will also be responsible for officiating duties. You can find the schedule here. The appropriate teams for the (cross)finals will be assigned as soon as possible. Based on the results, you can also determine yourself when your team is expected to take on jury duties.

Game rule change (“Spanish Rules”) for U13, U15 and U17

Since this season, we’ve started using the so-called “Spanish Rule” in the Netherlands, which has been implemented in all youth competitions across the country. These rules promote faster basketball and create many more transition moments during the game—something that young players in particular will benefit from greatly.

In the case of certain violations (not personal fouls!) committed by a team on its offensive half, the offensive team must place the ball on the floor and give it to the opposing team. The opposing team may then immediately inbound the ball, without the intervention of a referee. However, the referee will still take control of the ball if a timeout or substitution has been (timely) requested.

During HNBT 2025, this rule will be applied in all games in the U13, U15, and U17 competitions.

We hope this will make a positive contribution to all the young talents traveling to Groningen this weekend for a fantastic Easter weekend. We’re certainly looking forward to it.

Also on behalf of all referees,

See you soon!
